Chum Chum/Bengali Sandwhich Sweet



  • Milk 1 ltr
  • Lemon 2
  • Arroroot Powder 2 tbsp
  • Sugar 3 ½ cups
  • Water 3 cup
  • Mewa 200 gms
  • Sliced Pistas
  • Saffron/Yellow food colour



Preparation Method


  • Boil Milk in a vessel. Once its boiled remove it from heat and let it cool for 5 mins
  • Add juice of lemon into the milk and stir well to curdle the milk
  • Pour the milk in to thin muslin cloth and filter it well to prepare paneer.
  • Take the paneer from the cloth and mash it well with your palm for 15 mins
  • Add Arroroot powder, yellow colour and 3 spoon to sugar to the paneer and mix well for 5 mins.
  • Make small rounds of the paneer and make them into patties using your palm
  • Put sugar and water into a big kadai and boil it to prepare sugar syrup.
  • Sugar syrup should boil for 5 mins and then add the paneer to the syrup.
  • Cover the kadai and cook the paneer for 20 mins.
  • After 20 mins remove the paneer from the syrup and cut the oval paneer into 2 half.
  • Place mewa in-between the paneer and place some sliced pistas inside them.
  • Decorate it with saffron strings.


You can keep this sweet in fridge and have it for 3 days maximum.
