Beetroot Rice


2 cups of cooked rice

1  big Beet Root

2 Tomatoes

1-2 Green chillies

1tbsp Chilli Powder (adjust to taste)

1/2 tbsp Garam Masala

2-3 tbsp Oil


Chopped Coriander leaves for garnishing


To Temper

1 tbsp Mustard seeds

1 tbsp Cumin seeds


  • Pressure-cook Beetroots for 2 to 3 whistles with sufficient water.¬† Finely chop it and Keep aside
  • In a pan add oil and add the items for tempering. Once the mustard seeds start spluttering add green chillies and tomatoes. Cook for 3 to 5 mins till tomatoes cooks well.
  • Add chilli powder, garam masala and mix well. At this time add salt and adjust to taste. (No need to add water)
  • Add the finely chopped Beetroots. Mix the beets with the masalas completely.
  • Once the oil starts separating out add the cooked rice and mix well
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
